IntelleQuest’s Preschool Alphabet Boards are simple puzzles of lower case and upper case letters. They are designed to provide a fun and entertaining early introduction to the letters of the English alphabet and their phonetic sounds. Ideal for children from ages two to four years.
Children rotate parts of the letters into position to form the individual letters. Working with letters in this way provides early experience and preparation for their visual system in identifying the letters of the alphabet.
After the parts of the letters are rotated into place, the sound that the letter makes is activated and can be heard by touching the image of an ear to the right of the letter. These activities link together the images of the letters and the phonetic sounds the letters makes.
To complete the individual alphabet boards, children touch the individual pieces of letters to rotate them into the correct position to complete the image of the letter. When all the parts of the letters are in place, the ear to the right of the letter is activated. Touching it will allow children to hear the sound the letter makes. They can listen to it as many times as they want.
The colors used for the vowels and consonants is based on the Montessori sandpaper letters and moveable alphabet materials.
The vowel sounds used are the short sounds of the letters. The short sounds are used because that is the sound that vowels make in words by themselves. The vowels never say their long sounds except in combination with other vowels or letters.
